Spatial patterns of biomolecules: Optimization and intrinsic control

The study of collective biomolecular reactions leads to surprisingly rich questions about effects created by the spatial arrangement of the catalytic molecules. Building on our results from the pre-vious funding period, we will characterize several physical trade-offs that affect the synergistic activi-ty of such spatially patterned biomolecular systems. We will also start a complementary line of in-vestigation focusing on the intrinsic control of mechanisms that can produce non-trivial arrange-ments or patterns of biomolecules.
