Key Challenges in Statistical Physics

meco44 - 44th Conference of the Middle European Cooperation

The conference is the 44th in a series of meetings of scientists working in the domain of Statistical Mechanics and Condensed Matter Physics.

The Conferences of the Middle European Cooperation in Statistical Physics (MECO) were initiated in 1974 with the aim of bridging the gap between the communities of scientists from the Eastern and Western blocks of Europe, separated by the iron curtain. Since then, MECO conferences have become the yearly itinerant reference meetings for the community of scientists who are active in the field of Statistical Physics in the broader sense, including modern interdisciplinary applications to biology, finance, information theory, and quantum computation.

2019's conference will be organised by Prof. Erwin Frey, Department of Physics, LMU Munich.

The conference takes place from May 1st to May 3rd in Kloster Seeon near Munich.
PLEASE NOTE: It is impossible to reach Kloster Seeon directly from Munich via public transport. From Munich you can take a train and then switch into a bus, which will take you between 2,5-3 hours.
Therefore we organised a bus for all participants from Munich to Kloster Seeon on May 1st and a return bus for May 3rd. The organised bus takes about 1,5 hours.
We highly recommend that all participants either arrive on April 30th or early on May 1st and join us on the bus.

Registration: Please register.

Organisational information:
Bus Pick-Up in Munich: Hauptgebäude LMU, Ludwigstr 27, May 1st at 8.00am

Hotels for April 30th: Please choose your own hotel or hostel.

Kloster Seeon Costs:
There is no conference fee: All participants have to pay directly at Kloster Seeon for the lodging (between 85€ - 121€/night, depending on single/double room) plus boarding (218€ for the whole conference).
We will offer a limited amount of travel scholarships. Please contact MECO44@physik.lmu.de if you want to apply (only the costs of Kloster Seeon can be covered by the scholarship, not the travel costs!).

Program:
There will be around 15 invited talks and around 8 contributed talks.
The contributed talks will be selected from the submitted abstracts.
Participants interested in applying for a contributed talk please contact MECO44@physik.lmu.de.
There will be a postersession. Posters need to be registered under MECO44@physik.lmu.de.

Abstracts:
The organisors ask every participant to present a poster!
Please send the abstract for your poster or your application abstract for a contributed talk to MECO44@physik.lmu.de.
